A VIBRANT LOGO FOR A PROMISING FUTURE.
Jan 29, 2021

In the midst of revitalizing its brand identity, GM has revealed a vibrant new logo that ushers in a more modern look to GM’s familiar blue square. The designers sought to honor the companies rich past while also addressing GM’s vision for a bright and earth-friendly future.

Sharon Gauci, GM executive director of Global Industrial Design said, “This was a project our team took so personally, not just for ourselves but for the 164,000 employees this logo represents. At every step we wanted to be intentional and deliberate because this logo signifies creative and innovative thinking across the global General Motors family.”

The new logo bears the color of clean skies. Rounded shapes and lowercase letters portray a more modern and inclusive feel. The underline of the “m” connects the logo to its past and helps create the shape of an electric plug within the negative space, giving a nod to the company’s future and its new Ultium platform.
